PERFORMANCE PROJECTS

Fabian is a contemporary dance practitioner whose artistic journey started in the landscapes of rural North Norfolk.

Dance filled Fabian's childhood, with evenings devoted to classes and Sundays to ballet associates. His school life seamlessly merged with rehearsals for upcoming plays and musicals. As a drama scholar in sixth form, he thrived in the theatrical world, devising works, delving into plays, and participating in numerous productions.

In Leeds, Fabian pursued a foundation course in contemporary dance and later a BA at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. He fully embraced the life of a dancer, immersing himself in performances, classes, and workshops deepening his practice, while also capturing movement through film and creating student showcases. Summers were dedicated to European dance festivals like Impulstanz and B12, where he found inspiration and forged new connections.

Next, Fabian moved to London, where he joined Candoco Dance Company as a Performance Apprentice while pursuing his Masters in contemporary dance. With Candoco, he travelled across the globe, teaching, performing, and contributing to movement research and creations. A surprising milestone occurred when Candoco made history, becoming the first contemporary dance company to grace the Strictly Come Dancing stage. As a freelance artist collaborating with Candoco, Fabian’s credits include stepping in as an assistant rehearsal director for Theo Clinkard's 'Hot Mess', even stepping in to perform in the premiere, performing Yasmeen Godder's 'Face In' in Azerbaijan, and performing in Ben Wright's 'The Lost Thing' at the Royal Opera House, collaborating with classical musicians and opera singers.

Beyond this, notable projects as a freelancer include the creation and performance of 'Land' with Wilhelmina Ojanen on Sadler's Wells main stage as well as her 'Vibrant Matter' with Mobius Dance the following year. 'Bric-a-Brac Baby' with Maxine Doyle in Berlin, '10 Things I Hate About Dick' with Hetain Patel in Leeds and the immersive performance with Holly Blakey for Burberry London Fashion Week's show all make for honourable mentions here too.
